How did you come out to friends/family?

I sat them down and told them straight up

I made it so obvious that they came to their own conclusion

I have been wandering around, CUFFED jeans, SHAVED mullet, CARABINER AT THE HIP, RAINBOW pin on my lanyard at work, and my mother is still trying to set me up with my male friends.

I didn’t really try, after that absolute disaster that was my attempted gender coming-out at age 15

At age 20+ I sat my mom down and had some pleasant and purely superficial coffee talks about aromanticism and asexuality and queerplatonic attraction

Aaaaaand the blatant aphobia she showed (against both aromanticism but also asexuality), together with her usual underhanded misogyny, was enough for me

So I’ll probably never even try coming out to my parents

Most of my friends are some flavour of queer themselves so I have varying degrees of detail with which I straight-up told them – and being an online activist(ish) I’m pretty vocal about being aroace

I try being outspoken about being MIN-agender as well as oriented aroace

Also, my dorm room has 3 walls plastered with pride flags (MINgender, transneutral, aromantic, asexual) so aside from my parents I just expect people to do the math
